Rules for cycling in Madrid

Naturally, we must not forget that there are rules in place to ensure the safety of everyone in the city. Helmets must be worn on intercity roads. Furthermore, you cannot ride on the pavement or pedestrian streets or in pedestrian areas, only in cycle lanes. Only children under 12 years of age accompanied by an adult can ride on the pavement, but no faster than 5 km/h. The use of headphones while cycling is also prohibited.
