Summer Nights in Madrid: The Best Open-Air Cinemas

You can enjoy one of Madrid's most iconic events from 27 June to 12 September. "Cibeles de cine" is held in the spectacular glass gallery of the Cibeles Palace, which adds a unique and special atmosphere to the event. The extensive programme of this ninth edition includes classics such as "Dirty Dancing" and new releases such as "Rivals" and "Inside Out 2". If you are staying in our apartments, you can be there in just 15 minutes.
The Plaza de España will once again be the setting for La Estival from 13 July to 15 September. Every night, various films such as "Bad Boys 4", "Fly Me to the Moon" and "Robot Dreams" will be shown. There will also be monologues, gastronomy and a summer market. You can buy tickets on the official website. And a detail that might be of interest: La Estival is pet friendly! It takes about 20 minutes to get there by metro or bus from Gran Vía.
As usual, La Casa Encendida is hosting La Terraza Magnética 2024, an event where you can enjoy open-air cinema and concerts from 5 July to 31 August. The programme includes eight films, which will be shown on Fridays, and eight concerts, which will take place on Saturday evenings. Some of the films on offer are: "The Wolf House" and "Aftersun", among others. You can check timetables and buy tickets on their official website. Furthermore, it is only a 15-minute walk from our apartments!
Summer Cinema in El Retiro 2024
If you are looking for a free open-air cinema in Madrid, don't miss the opportunity to go to the Retiro district until 29 August, where several screenings will take place, such as "Indiana Jones", "Insidious", or "The Little Mermaid". As mentioned above, admission is free until full capacity is reached and screenings will take place in two locations: Parque de Roma and Plaza de Daoíz y Velarde. You can get there from Gran View Apartments by metro in only 25 minutes.
Of course, we couldn't forget Fescinal, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year in style. From June 27 to September 1, 2024, you can enjoy a diverse selection of films at Parque de la Bombilla. The movies range across various genres and include titles like "Dune," "Kung Fu Panda," "Garfield," and more. Soon, you will find the full list of movies on the official website, where you can also purchase tickets. Alternatively, you can buy tickets in person at the venue. You can get there by metro from our apartments in just 20 minutes.
Finally, if you come to Madrid by car, we recommend you try the drive-in experience. Imagine enjoying a movie from the comfort of your car while munching on a delicious hamburger, hot dog or popcorn. The retro atmosphere, comfort, and charm of open-air cinemas make drive-ins ideal for couples, families, and friends. You can get there by car from Gran View Apartments in 30 minutes.
